Hopeworks

3400 J Street, Philadelphia, PA and 800 Market Street, Camden, NJ

Hopeworks provides technical training, supuport services, and employment opportunities to young adults. Most young adults entering Hopeworks are unemployed and earn less than $400 annually. Young adults who complete the Hopeworks program earn, on average, over $43,000 annually, with over 90% achieving a 12-month job retention rate.

The Connelly Foundation’s $300,000 grant to Hopeworks in August 2022 supported the organization’s expansion from its first location in Camden to Kensington in Philadelphia. Hopeworks has experienced incredible success. Almost immediately, it reconfigured its space to accommodate more participants due to overwhelming demand. In its first year in Kensington, Hopeworks served 104 young adults, placed 40 into permanent full-time employment, and developed a waiting list of 74 participants.

The Connelly Foundation recently made a two-year, $80,000 commitment to support Hopeworks. This will allow Hopeworks to serve ndividuals on its waiting list. Hopeworks plans to expand to serve 300 indviduals per year. They recently added new training tracks to provide additional career path opportunities, including technology, medical assistant, and infrastructure jobs.

As always, Hopeworks is thoughtful about its growth and committed to preserving the culture that fuels its participants' success. One recent graduate shared, "This experience has not only impacted my life but also my family’s."
